the semester has started! i have 3 classes only this semester, one on mondays and wednesdays, one on tuesdays and thursdays, and then one online class! one of them is a programming class which i am excited for, we are learning Golang! my short term programming goal is to create level editors for Pacma Fight and Ninja Painter, which i am unsure if Go is good for making gui-based editors, but if not i can just apply what i learned to some other language and learn it. probably python, i know it has some nice UI libraries.
i have been wearing eyeliner on campus which feels very Gender and very nice. i did recently get a few skirts and i would like to start wearing those, but i am not sure when i am ready for that. i think i want to get some leggings first. i got my ears pierced! it was a surreal experience feeling the needle being manually shoved through my ear, but it was certainly worth the few strange seconds i experienced! i think the combination of them, my bangs, and my eyeliner is a KILLER combo for gender purposes, the only thing lacking now is my clothing. i should look into getting contact lenses soon also, i think i look hotter without glasses, plus i do actually just need to go to the eye doctor! my long range eyesight hasn't been stellar for a couple months, and that should be fixed! in a few weeks, i look forward to making custom earrings and wearing them. i saw a gamecube logo 3d model on thingiverse somewhere, so that would be fun to make into earrings! i think i want to make some kind of homestuck themed earrings also, probably of the green slime ghost on john's shirt. i think it would be neat! also a pair of SMB1 Mario sprite earrings would go crazy hard.
speaking of homestuck, i have passed page 2000! i havent made a lot of progress recently, on account of school and the fact i havent got the unofficial collection working on my Linux installation yet. i think act 5 so far has been pretty slow also, the pacing has come to a crawl and the pesterlogs are a little hard to read at times. i am not entirely against this arc though, it is fascinating to learn more about the trolls and their society.
i have really been enjoying my Linux installation. it has been what i mainly play Doom on now, plus its so less quiet than Windows. i still have yet to get my game controllers working with Linux, but i have found a better music set up than Clementine. Tauon is so simple and elegant, i had some issues with it reading my d drive initially but that has been remedied, and we are now listening to more and more Bring Me The Horizon like always! i have started to find a real appreciation for That's The Spirit and amo, and i still have their early early albums to listen to. i would say i would put Tauon on my windows installation, but honestly i really dont know if i will be using it a whole lot in the future! i have been finding myself just only chilling in Linux and getting by just fine. i even set up a Syncplay server on here so that my friend and i can watch media synced. it is a relief not needing to rely on Discord streaming for this anymore. i think i will introduce this program to my other friends, including the ones who watch movies a whole lot together. it will probably be a much nicer experience than Discord streaming, although thats not really a super high bar to clear anyway. no offense Discord. ok, well, maybe a little.
in the time since my last post, i have beat both Doom 1 and Doom 2 and am currently making my way through the Master Levels. Doom 1 was a good time all the way through, although Perfect Hatred was an insane level to go through. Doom 2 had some levels throughout that i just really did not enjoy at all, fuck Barrels O Fun! i hated that level! Master Levels is just, alright? not anything stellar. i have a whole list of the Doom things i want to play that i will slowly go through on my Backloggd, which you should totally follow me on if you havent already also. i do want to go through Duke Nukem 3D and Unreal at some point, but not sure if those are Doom related enough to be on a list that is pretty much entirely Doom engine oriented. alongside the titles on this list, i think i will attempt a playthrough of Knee Deep in the Dead on Ultra-Violence with Fast Monsters enabled. it seems like a nice increase in challenge.
big day for game announcements also! partner direct and a indie world, although only one announcement stole the show in my eyes. Tetris Forever is an upcoming interactive documentary of the Tetris series by Digital Eclipse. they previously did this with Atari, Karateka, and Llamasoft. i have personally experienced Atari 50 and i can say that it is wonderful history and wonderful preservation. its disappointing that Forever will be seen as only a collection of Tetris games in some peoples eyes when it is so much more. if you want to get it only for the games, thats fine! but its not a collection! its an interactive documentary, its history! although i think when push comes to shove, a lot of gamers have a hard time actually caring about gaming history.
anyways, see you next time!
